AIR CONDITIONING SERVICE
ARCtick recommend to service a vehicle’s air conditioning unit at least every two years following this procedure.
- Check how the systems operating
- Check for leaks
- Remove old gas and store for safe disposal.
- Remove and replace the receiver drier (filter) including o rings and seals.
- Place the system in deep vacuum for 30 – 45 minutes, this removes any moisture.
- Close the system and check it’s completely sealed (holding vacuum).
- Add new oil and new gas as per manufacturer’s specifications.
- Recheck system operation
- Perform a vent temperature test.

There’s nothing worse than your air conditioner failing as the outside temperature rises. Whether it's no longer cold, not blowing air at all, or noisy, we will perform a full system diagnostic check, find the fault, and report on the required repairs.
AIR CONDITIONING REGASSING
We are commonly asked just to “top up the gas” or it “just needs re-gassing”. Filling up gas is a highly illegal practice and is not performed by any workshop that values not only the environment but their ARCtick license as well. It is illegal to refill a system with a known leak. If a system has lost gas and performance then we need to find out why and carry out the required repairs before refilling the unit. At Southern Cross Mechanical all old gas is placed in a sealed cylinder for safe disposal.
